Bring back the routine….

Have the summer holidays quietly dislodged your usual fitness routine, so that now it’s a little all over the shop, as is your motivation? It’s so easily done, we’ve all been there, but now, before the lack of routine and somewhat reluctance to snap it back takes over, here are some tips and ideas that we hope will help you get back into the swing – you know how good you’ll feel when you do!

START SLOWLY

For example, if you are starting by jogging, be kind to yourself, don’t go off too quick, or for too long, or you’ll HATE it! Start really slowly. Too many people stop because they push themselves too hard at the beginning and decide that exercise is too painful/exhausting/impossible.  Our Pilates courses will brilliantly show your progress, you’ll be surprised at how quickly your body becomes stronger, more flexible and stronger – you’ll also love the visual results1

EXERCISE EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T FEEL LIKE IT

‘No one ever regretted a workout.’ Such a true phrase don’t you think? No matter how much you haven’t wanted to go to the gym/exercise do your Pilates routine, run in the park, afterwards you always are on a huge high aren’t you?  You will never ever wish you hadn’t done it, so remember that when you are making excuses not to go.

SHUT THAT EAR-WORM UP

When it comes to exercising, the voice in your head can act like an ear worm, popping up with EVERY (very understandable!) excuse it possibly can to stop you going out. “I’ll start tomorrow,” “I haven’t got time”, “It’s late” “I’m tired” “I can’t find my kit,” “Time of the month,” etc…  Shut out the ear-worm and GO OUT ANYWAY. Often, in the time you’ve wasted deliberating whether you have time to go training you could have gone and come back….

GET YOUR KIT ON

If you put your kit on first thing and walk out of the front door and close it behind you. You will then be outside and you’ll feel really guilty if you then go back inside again.

RETAIL THERAPY

Who doesn’t enjoy a little in-store self indulgence?  If it’s a pair of leggings, a shiny new pair of trainers, or that vest top that’s been staring at you in the high street, wearing flattering, stylish training kit really inspires you to work out. However, if you like your training kit as much as the rest of the clothes in your wardrobe you will want to go out and show it off.   For our Pilates we love Asquith, also H&M do a great range of active wear but it’s only available online or possibly in the really big stores.

YOU CAN DO IT
